According to a report from People.com, Oprah Winfrey recently dished on five key moments that played a huge role in the trajectory of her life. The star was asked to discuss five things that shaped the course of her career and life, one of which was an event that nearly led her to quit doing television permanently.
Alluding to two different episodes from 1989, Oprah described the”KKK skinhead show” where fights had broken out, as well as the other involving a man, his wife, and his mistress.
Despite the fact she and producers thought they had done a good job of creating quality television, or at least the premise for what they thought would be quality television, she later came to regret it.
Winfrey stated to the People reporter that she and the producers were thrilled the man agreed to come on the show with his wife as well as his mistress. Things took a sour turn when the man revealed his mistress was pregnant.
Apparently, the show was live at that point, and neither she nor the producers knew the bombshell was coming. Winfrey stated she realized at that moment she could never allow such a thing to happen to someone ever again, and she stayed true to her word.
