Everyone’s favourite Captain America will be taking the stage very soon!

Chris Evans is set to make his Broadway debut starring in Kenneth Logan’s play Lobby Hero. He will star opposite Michael Cera in a production that will reopen the newly renovated Helen Hayes Theater and launch the Broadway programming of the nonprofit Second Stage Theater.

“Lobby Hero,” is set to open in 2018 and will be a part of a scheme to promote creative arts. The new plan will also see a new production of Young Jean Lee’s Straight White Men being developed, as well the commissioning of new plays by Lynn Nottage and Paula Vogel; both of which are seasoned writers with shows currently running on Broadway.

The commissioning program emphasizes Second Stage’s commitment to secure the Hayes Theatre as a permanent home on Broadway for American plays. The landmark is currently being renovated, following a fund raising campaign in 2015.

“The Hayes will be dedicated to living American playwrights: no British imports, no Chekhov translations, no classics — just contemporary works that provoke, stimulate and challenge from the finest playwrights our country has to offer,” said Second Stage founder and artistic director Carole Rothman.
