The playing future of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been thrust into the limelight over the last 24 hours. After missing a big chunk of last season due to a spinal contusion injury, Stafford's career was in doubt.
Now there are reports surfacing that the Rams may want to offload the Super Bowl winning quarterback as Sean McVay's team looks to ease their salary cap woes.

Seeing as the quarterback's guaranteed money is quite high, we imagine Tampa Bay looking elsewhere.
Needing to restructure plenty of deals to get under the salary cap before the new league year starts, the Buccaneers, even if they could, likely wouldn't entertain the idea of signing an aging quarterback, with a serious spinal injury who has a lot of guaranteed money.
Matthew Stafford's Rams future in doubt?
It certainly feels that way and Michael Lombardi said as much on the Pat McAfee Show. Lombardi stated that the Rams would "love" the idea of trading away Stafford.
We assume to get some cap relief and with the quarterback market somewhat unknown at the moment with Lamar Jackson's contract uncertainty, it could make any move difficult.
But despite that, it appears that Matthew Stafford's time in L.A. is abruptly coming to an end just two years into his Rams career.
The biggest talking point for either the Rams or any prospective team that is looking in the veteran's direction is the status of his spinal cord injury.
Some have even stated that Matthew Stafford should retire. Given his age, the fact that he has won a Super Bowl and the type of injury it is, all it takes is one hit for it all to go south.
In a similar vein to Tua Tagovailoa, who is dealing with his concussion issues, the player must be reminded that it is just football after all.
Still, the Rams appear to be ready to move off the Super Bowl-winning quarterback if they can find a suitable trade partner.
